Gene Mueller, Telecommunications Technician, has announced that he will be retiring from UW-Whitewater. His last day on campus is planned for Thursday, Feb. 24.

Gene joined UW-Whitewater in 1995.  He is well known for working closely with customers to understand their telecommunications needs and to provide solutions that fit both needs and budgets.   During his time, Gene successfully managed the campus-wide Centrex installation, in addition to numerous specialized departmental phone systems.   He also worked closely with Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) and later as a member of iCIT’s Cabling Team to manage and expand the telecommunications and data communications cabling infrastructure on campus.  His vast knowledge of campus infrastructure and many years of experience will be missed by both iCIT and the UW-Whitewater campus.

An informal gathering is planned at Fat Jack’s in Whitewater at 5 p.m. on Wednesday for Gene.  Please join us in extending him best wishes upon his retirement!

Focus on the Future: IT Strategic Plan Updated

IT Strategic Plan has been updated for 2011, submitted to campus leaders and UW Board of Regents, and posted on the iCIT Web site.  We invite you, members of the iCIT staff, to review the plan, reflect on your accomplishments and take a glimpse at the road ahead into the future of technology at UW-Whitewater.

The ITSP is a multi-year plan developed in 2008, working with representatives from across campus.  The plan provides strategic direction to guide campus priorities in information technology planning, funding and deployment for the next several years.  It is updated annually, and was recently updated to include progress from 2010 and plans for 2011.

Visit ITSP website (http://www.uww.edu/icit/itsp) to review the plan.  Feel free to provide any feedback or comments by email at itplan@uww.edu or phone (262) 472-7790.

Thank you for all your work in moving strategic initiatives forward, and for taking the time to help us shape the future!
