George Jura has announced that he will be leaving UW-Whitewater iCIT to join the UW-Madison School of Nursing, in the position of Director of Academic Technology. George’s last day at UW-Whitewater will be Friday, August 31.

George joined iCIT in August 2008 as Technology Advancement and Training Coordinator.  George also maintained the training section of iCIT website, developed digital signage content for iCIT, lead the redesign of UW-W iTunes U presence, and produced numerous screencasts and technical documentation distributed online. During his four years with iCIT, George delivered presentations on staff training, iTunes U, and TechQuest at three Educause conferences.

We thank George for his time and dedication spent with us and wish him the best of luck in his future position.

Julie Zaukas to Leave iCIT

The Financial Specialist 4 Project position currently held by Julie Zaukas will be expiring this month.  As a project appointment may not exceed 4 years, Julie’s last day with iCIT will be Friday, July 20th.

During Julie’s four years with iCIT she has been instrumental in developing processes aimed at ensuring transparency in financial operations, as well as developing and maintaining positive working relationships with all areas of campus administration and customers.  Julie also served as a member of the Classified Connections Committee participating in the scheduling of topics for Classified Connection meetings, as well as providing input into the ongoing development of a Classified Staff Advisory Council.

To assure that we do not experience any interruption in administrative or financial services, and to minimize the impact to the organization, we have been transitioning responsibilities to Dawn Brockwell on an interim basis while a new position is being developed.

An Uptimes announcement will be made when the new position is ready to be posted.

Please join us as we thank Julie for her four years of dedicated service to UW-Whitewater iCIT and wish her the best in her future endeavors.

David Ward Resigns from iCIT

David Ward, Systems Development Specialist, Administrative Information Services (AIS), has resigned from his position with iCIT to take a position with UW-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT).  In his new job, David will work in the Shared Financial Services area of DoIT.

Since joining iCIT in 1995, David has been a key contributor to many of the AIS team successes, particularly in the Financial Aid area.  He implemented several key processes that have allowed Financial Aid (FA) office to reduce or eliminate their manual processes.  A further testimonial to his hard work was evident from the numerous requests we received from UW-System campuses and other universities to share the systems he had developed.

As a highlight of his career at UW-Whitewater, David designed, developed and implemented a custom Scholarship application which automated manual submission of scholarship applications for the entire campus. The automation has saved the university hundreds of hours of manual work that would have been used to process these applications. Since we implemented this project at the end of March, the system has processed approximately 500 applications and the number is ever growing.

David’s last day in iCIT was Friday, June 8th.  We thank David for his many years of dedicated service to UW-Whitewater iCIT and AIS, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
