Welcome Matt Albers!

Please join us in welcoming Matt Albers as our new PeopleSoft Analyst/Developer. In this role, Matt will perform advanced professional information system (IS) tasks on Oracle/PeopleSoft systems. He will conduct system analysis and design functions and advanced programming tasks, as well as consult with, assist, and instruct functional users in the use of IS applications and tools. He will also serve as a backup Database Administrator. Matt is located in L1015 and reports to Anand Vangipuram.

Matt is a skilled IT professional with many years of programming and database experience. He comes to us from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he worked as a Database Administrator. In that role he administered, managed and supported Oracle, MySQL, and SQL server databases. In addition to his database expertise, he has vast programming experience in developing processes and systems.

Personnel Announcement – Jamey Chapin

Jamey Chapin has announced her resignation. Her last day with ICIT will be Friday, July 25.

During her time here she worked closely with management and staff to execute a comprehensive communication programs to effectively inform the campus community of technology projects, initiatives, governance and services. She also coordinated divisional meetings, technology open house, and managed customer and governance relationships.

Jamey will be moving to Colorado. She accepted a position with the University of Colorado-Boulder as a Communication Professional in the IT Department. We wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Do you know a Web Technologist?

ICIT is currently looking for a Web Technologist. The candidate will be responsible for  system analysis and design functions and advanced programming tasks, as well as consulting with, assisting, and instructing functional users in the use of Information System applications and tools. This position works as part of the web team and reports to the Director of Administration Information Systems (AIS) Anand Vangipuram.

An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Proven ability to use C#, JavaScript, and MSSQL for web application development.
  • Proven ability to use ASP.NET MVC for web application development.
  • Ability to administer, support and maintain Windows/IIS/.NET servers and multiple web infrastructure technologies such as the Web Content Management System, Google Search Appliance, Campus Events Calendar, WordPress Blog Server, and Web Analytics tools.
  • Experience with Git and SVN or other version control systems.
  • Experience using current versions of Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, and Atlassian Sourcetree or other version control clients.
  • Experience programming with object-oriented techniques, C#, XHTML, CSS page layout, and client-side JavaScript
  • Experience designing relational database tables, views, and relationships, writing complex SQL queries, and developing against SQL Server database.
  • Knowledge of web development design concepts.
  • Experience documenting user requirements with use case diagrams.
  • Experience implementing all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Web Accessibility standards.
  • Effective oral, listening, and written communication skills.

Welcome Joel Koszyczarek!

Please welcome Joel Koszyczarek to the User Environment Team as a Workstation Software Technologist! Joel will be responsible for managing workstation software distribution and services for both, Windows and Mac platforms. In this role, he will design standard images based on the campus-wide and departmental needs, package, test and distribute applications, troubleshoot issues associated with workstation software, and lead university-wide software rollouts such as operating systems releases, browser releases and office productivity software. Joel will be located in Andersen 2003 and report to Ray Stanek.

Joel has a strong technology background and vast experience in hardware and software rollouts. In his most recent role at Fiserv, he worked on the transition of 1000+ workstations from Windows XP to Windows 7, managed the internal security patch deployment, configured and installed new desktop and laptop computers and provided high level technical support to senior executives.

Help us find an IT Security and Compliance Officer!

ICIT is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished professional to serve as the University’s IT Security and Compliance Officer. This individual will be responsible for research, development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of IT security and regulatory compliance policies, controls, programs and facilities for the campus, including the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Information Security Assurance Program that encompasses awareness, risk assessment and mitigation, incident response and disaster recovery and business continuity.

The IT Security and Compliance Officer will establish an overall framework for IT policy development as well as perform or oversee the actual research, development and implementation of IT policies to ensure effective and efficient IT operations and compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing University data and IT operations.

 An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years progressively increasing responsibility in an IT policy, IT security or IT governance role, preferably in a large higher-education setting.
  • Direct, recent experience with policy or compliance relating to data regulations such as FERPA, PCI, HIPAA, GLBA and/or PCI is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT systems and system integration frameworks, methodologies, processes and terminologies.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies including network security technologies including firewalls, network intrusion detection / prevention and related network monitoring and maintenance systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IT security and operational governance frameworks such as NIST SP-63, ISO/IEC 27001, COBIT, MOF or ITILv3.
  • Knowledge of IT governance practices, processes and methodologies.
  • Strong ability to form and lead cross-functional teams in implementing process and organizational change.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
