Open Position for Windows System Engineer

iCIT is now recruiting for a Windows Systems Engineer. The position’s primary responsibilities include design, installation, support and troubleshooting related to Microsoft Windows server-based services. The person in this position is expected to perform advanced IS duties relating to campus Windows server-based services with minimal direction and supervision. This position works under general supervision and direction from the Platform Lead.

Kent Steinike Accepts Role As Project Lead for Modern Service Desk Transition

iCIT welcomes Kent Steinike back to UW-W.  In his new role, he will lead the project to transition the campus computer Helpdesk into a modern service desk (MSD).  The responsibilities of this position will include defining and documenting the goals and vision of the MSD, reviewing MSD best practices, defining baseline and future internal processes, providing vendor product reviews and establishing the recommended framework for MSD.  The primary goal of this effort is to recommend and implement processes and a solution to transition to a Modern Service Desk.

Kent started in this new role on Monday, February 2nd.  His office is in L1015. While we try to communicate new hiring announcements beforehand, this opportunity happened more rapidly than usual, resulting in the slight delay in communicating this announcement.  Please join us in welcoming Kent to the iCIT team.

Personnel Update

Tom Gillespie has accepted a position as an Instructional Technologist at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. His last day with iCIT will be December 23, 2008. Please join us in wishing Tom well in this new endeavor and thanking him for his excellent work in support of Instructional Technology at UW-W.

Ben Villanueva has accepted a position in Texas with Dell.  His last day with iCIT will be October 24.  Please join us in wishing Ben well in this new endeavor and thanking him for his many contributions to iCIT and campus technology initiatives.  Specifically, we would like to recognize Ben for his work with the deployment of a campus-wide printing solution, transitioning traditional labs to contemporary project-oriented collaborative environments and unifying software licenses among departmental and General Access Labs.
