Karen Skibba leaves UW-Whitewater
Karen Skibba’s last day at UW-Whitewater was Friday, September 7. Karen left the iCIT Learning Technology Center (LTC) to join the UW-Madison School of Continuing Education in the position of Instructional Designer.
Karen joined the LTC in October 2008 as an Instructional Design Specialist. In this role Karen developed and taught many workshops on the pedagogically sound use of technology in teaching and learning, as well as the annual summer online/blended workshop series that provided UW-Whitewater instructors best practices for preparing and facilitating online and blended courses. Karen conducted numerous instructor consultations and ensured that online courses aligned with Quality Matters standards.
During her time at UW-Whitewater, Karen also earned her PhD in Adult and Continuing Education from UW-Milwaukee. Karen was also very active in presenting nationally and authoring book chapters and articles on instructional design, instructional technology, and online and blended teaching and learning
We thank Karen for her time and dedication in assisting instructors and colleagues at UW-Whitewater and we wish her all the best in her new endeavor.
Welcoming new Service & Support member
On Monday, August 27th, Ray Beebe joined the iCIT Customer Technology Service & Support team as a Technical Services Technician. Ray will provide direct T2 level support to the campus community for desktop hardware, network printers, mobile devices, software issues and other campus technologies.
Ray has over 12 years of computer support experience, most recently working at Best Buy as a member of their Geek Squad team. Ray is completing his IT Networking Degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College. He will be located in 2003 (Joe F’s old office). Please welcome Ray to our team.
George Jura resigns from iCIT
George Jura has announced that he will be leaving UW-Whitewater iCIT to join the UW-Madison School of Nursing, in the position of Director of Academic Technology. George’s last day at UW-Whitewater will be Friday, August 31.
George joined iCIT in August 2008 as Technology Advancement and Training Coordinator. In this role George has developed and taught a curriculum of workshops for faculty and staff on productivity and enterprise software, with over 30 workshops taught each semester, as well as summer technology overview for new faculty and academic staff.
With time, his role expanded to include managing UW-W TechQuest, an innovative technology orientation for over 2000 incoming freshmen and transfer students, and collaboration with FYE on various Plan-It Purple related events.
George also maintained the training section of iCIT website, developed digital signage content for iCIT, lead the redesign of UW-W iTunes U presence, and produced numerous screencasts and technical documentation distributed online. During his four years with iCIT, George delivered presentations on staff training, iTunes U, and TechQuest at three Educause conferences.

iCIT Seeking Communications Specialist Sr.
iCIT will be posting information to recruit for the position of Communications Specialist Sr. to join our team. The person in this position will manage the communications responsibilities formerly fullfilled by Annette Guye-Kordus.
The position reports to CIO, Elena Pokot and works closely with Management and technical staff to facilitate a comprehensive communication program to effectively inform the campus community of technology projects, initiatives, governance and services using contemporary communication methods. This position will also coordinate special events, manage customer and governance relationships, and act as the department’s public relations liaison.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years experience in development, organization, and leadership of marketing and/or communication efforts in corporate or public sectors, be a highly motivated individual with leadership qualities and a proven track record of successful collaboration with clients and management staff.
