We are seeking a creative, dynamic, and talented Front End Web Developer, who can translate website designs into state of the art mobile and web experience for campus users. Candidates will need to plan and build innovative websites where the presentation “feels” real and responds intelligently to user interactions, using the latest technologies such as HTML 5, CSS 3, Advance JavaScript frameworks and emerging mobile development platforms. The Front End Developer will participate in general project planning meetings with key team members to ensure level of efforts are accurate and that existing industry standards are being met and/or new standards are being developed and implemented. This position will work under the direction of Director of Administration Information Systems (AIS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply advanced knowledge of modern web development standards to implement website designs using HTML 5, CSS 3 and JavaScript (XML and XLST knowledge also preferred)
- Update and maintain existing HTML, CSS and JavaScript templates for campus websites
- Use responsive design techniques to ensure content adapts appropriately to mobile devices and browsers
- Perform server-side programming including interaction with databases and syndicated feeds (such as PHP, MySQL and RSS)
- Manage user accounts and permissions for the university’s content management system (CMS)
- Configure and maintain web statistics software for the campus website and provide reports when needed
- Communicate information and requests to project team members, management, and impacted parties in a timely manager using appropriate methods
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or related field
- Demonstrated ability in using HTML, JavaScript and CSS to develop websites based on provided graphical designs
- Experience with XML and XSLT preferred, willingness to learn is acceptable
- Experience in the use and support of a content management system preferred
- Passionate about pushing the boundaries of interactive technologies
- Must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with cross-platform, multi-browser issues
- Experience with graphics generation software, including Adobe Photoshop
