    Writing Requirement(s)

As a communications student at UW-Whitewater, a large portion of your ability to graduate is the completion of the writing requirement. The writing requirement is usually a pretty lengthy paper that combines aspects of communication and public relations with a theory and event. Over the course of my education, I’ve written a couple of them and have passed them with flying colors. I love writing and have used the assignment as a way to connect theories with events and ideas from pop culture. In two of my most recent classes I’ve written my papers for graduation about the Fyre Festival, a failed music festival, and how they could have prevented…

Instagram Stories & Social Media Development

Social media is such a large part of a business and their success. Businesses and artists use different platforms like Instagram and Facebook to promote their new products, music, or work. I’ve recently gotten into creating Instagram Stories and promotional social media supplies for smaller artists who have new music out. It’s something I do for free to help network with artists, and it’s definitely benefitted me. Concert & Press Photography

I’ve learned to love every aspect of the ‘behind the scenes’ work of concerts and events. One of my favorite parts of attending shows and events was seeing the photographers running around to get the perfect picture. There’s such a process and story behind every picture that’s taken at an event, and I love that. I’ve been lucky enough to get some really amazing pictures while attending shows and have used them to help promote the artist, network, and show my love for the industry! It’s an easy way to get in contact with those that I looked up to and respect.

    Press Releases

As a public relations student, a large part of what I was learning was how to effectively write a press release. In one of my classes, I wrote a lot of press releases for a nonprofit organization that I used as my mock client for the semester. Through learning how to write a press release and news released, I’ve realized how important it is to be concise with my words and get information across effectively. Writing is something that I really enjoy and have really improved in my skills over the course of my education. The attached news release is for my mock client about the important of outreach to…
