Andersen Library has trials of three streaming music databases running during the month of September. Try them out and send us feedback as to whether they’d be useful in your classes!
All three databases are capable of delivering CD-quality sound and provide links for individual tracks as well as albums and playlists (where applicable). They offer multiple ways to search, including browsing by composer, instrument, label, etc.
- – DRAM includes nearly 2,300 albums from independent record labels and sound archives (“From folk to opera, Native American to jazz, 19th century classical to early rock, musical theater, contemporary, electronic and beyond”)
- – Music Online includes a large jazz collection (about 5,000 albums), but also includes libraries of American song, classical music, and contemporary world music
- – Naxos Music Library includes a large classical collection (45,000 albums) and a jazz collection of about 3,500 albums, and synopses of over 700 operas
