WHOiAM Support Rally

UW-Whitewater Greeks will come together on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 12:20 p.m. near the University Center north mall to make a statement and take united pictures with any and all other supporters of safety, justice and equality. Wear any SOLID color shirt and join us! We will be forming a rainbow by grouping similar colors as well as a mixed shot to demonstrate our solidarity and our diversity.

All members of the UW-Whitewater family and community are invited to demonstrate that Warhawks support each other and work to keep our campus and community safe for all. We hope you can participate in and/or share with those with whom you know, especially via social media. Share one, post one. Please feel free to use the hashtag: #WHOiAM

September 2014 Meeting

Welcome back to another exciting and fun-filled school-year!

The LGBT Task Force held its first meeting for the Fall 2014 semester on Thursday, September 11, 2014. Here is what what discussed as well as upcoming events for the Fall 2014 semester:

  • Ally Open House – Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 11am-2pm at the Warhawk Connection Center

  • Coming Out Day – Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 12noon-2pm at the UC North Mall

  • Kara Laricks, lesbian fashion designer – Queer Cultural Series Speaker – Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 3:30pm in UC 275

  • Queer Cultural Film: Boy Meets Girl – Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 6pm in the Warhawk Connection Center

Coming Out Day Celebration and Guest Speaker

Impact, the LGBTQ and ally student organization, will hold its annual Coming Out Day event on Tuesday, Oct. 7 on the north mall from noon – 2 p.m., where students, faculty, and staff share their experiences coming out as LGBT* and allies. If you would like to share your story, please contact James Sheets at SheetsJF18@uww.edu.

Later, the Queer Cultural Series will host speaker Kara Laricks, winner of NBC’s first season of Fashion Star, in University Center room 275 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Laricks will speak about designing androgynous clothing, LGBT* influence on fashion, and being a member of the LGBT* community. Anyone who would like more information or faculty who would like to offer extra credit for their students’ attendance should contact Cindy Konrad at konradc@uww.edu or at 472-7169.
