Progress for Transgender Students, But Barriers Still Exist

According to a newly-published UW-Madison study, transgendered Wisconsin high school students believe a shift is taking place within the educational system, from more awareness and acceptance about transgender identity to producing solutions which benefit transgender students’ needs and accommodations.

In spite of these positives, the study finds some negative aspects still exist which must be addressed, such as outdated school policies to uneducated staff and students about transgendered issues and needs, as well as ending bullying tactics and providing gender inclusive facilities.
