Every season at The Candle Mercantile, a lot of the scents are switched in and out. So, if you come during the summer, you should come back during the fall to check out all of the new scents! There are a few classic scents that due to popularity stay out all year long, but there are also a wide variety that are swapped depending on the time of year. Getting to Know: How COVID Hit
COVID threw a twist into everyone’s lives. The nation-wide lockdown required a lot of small businesses to close their doors for a couple of months, and for some, permanently. The Candle Mercantile had to shut down their store, along with many others at the middle of March until the end of May. With TCM having just opened in June of 2019, so just a short eight months later, they were not prepared to close down. During this time, the owners actually had to lay off all of their employees, but were fortunate enough to hire them all back on when doors reopened. Pre COVID times at TCM were different than…

Let’s take this week to get to know the amazing owners and creators of The Candle Mercantile: Liz Doyle and Leigh Ann Myers. These two are the co-owners of TCM, and are childhood best friends. They both left their stressful corporate America jobs to create a fun, new experience for Downtown Lake Geneva. They toyed around with a couple of different business ideas for a while, until they decided on candle pouring. Leigh Ann visited a similar concept store in Pittsburgh, and they loved the idea for Lake Geneva.
