Pre-Shadowlands farms that you should be doing!

Whether you’re looking to make gold, add transmogrification looks to your roster, or you’re adding to your collection of resources before the pre-patch, there’s a farm here for everyone!

If there’s a list of things that absolutely everyone in World of Warcraft loves, it’s Transmogs, Resources, and of course Gold! Now there are many ways to obtain all three of those things, but today I’m going to run through some of the best ways, that I’ve come across, to obtain each piece of this puzzle! (Note: All of these ways are also Gold farms of their own, but I’ll get to that in each section.)

Resources

Now I know everyone wants to have as many BfA ores, herbs, and skins as possible because with the release of Shadowlands, all of these resources are going to become a little harder to obtain, Here’s a quick list of ways to get each type of resource.

  • Ores are probably the trickiest resource to farm, but fear not as they have very easy to spot drop places! Monelite Ore and it’s rarer, more exclusive cousin Platinum Ore can both be found in mountainous regions and on rocky outcrops. Following rivers in any of the areas will net you a very large amount of this ore very quickly. Stormsilver is a slightly trickier ore to obtain but is found mostly throughout caves, and so running through every cave you find is a very good idea!
  • Herbs are relatively easy as a lot of them spawn in the vicinity of water! Riverbud, as its name implies, can only be found near water sources, so literally following a river will net you more than you can carry in a very short amount of time! Siren’s sting is also a very common Herb that across all high-pop servers still sells for a very large amount! These herbs can be found on the tree trunks of very large trees. Funnily enough these trees also spawn near water, so following a river like in Zuldazar will usually net you a very large amount of both Siren’s sting and River bud! Anchor weed is the rarer drop of River bud so this is also the most effective way to farm it!
  • Skinners might have the easiest time gathering as their resources comes from all over the place, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to find a way to maximize their time spent gathering! The best way that I’ve found is the Atal’Dazar gold shuffle method, that I’ll go over in a bit, but you skinners out there should head over to the Atal’Dazar dungeon located in Zuldazar, and farm out the dinosaur monsters in the instance to net you a supreme amount of Bones and Skins!

Gold

Now there are many ways to make a quick amount of gold, but I’ve decided to showcase one specifically as it is the highest return rate of any “solo” gold farm I’ve every seen.

To start this gold farmer there are a few things you’ll want to make sure you have under your belt.

  • Make sure you have maxed out BfA Skinning and Leatherworking professions.
  • Make sure that you have Blood-stained Bone and Shimmerscale gathering skills 3-starred.
  • Make sure that your “Shimmerscale Striker” recipe is 3-star’d.
  • Optional: Darkmoon firewater increases gathering by a huge amount, Zandalari skinning glove enchant also greatly increases skinning. The add-on “faster loot” helps with looting mobs.

Now onto the farm. First set your dungeon difficulty to normal, and head to Atal’Dazar located in Zuldazar. Once you’re there head into the instance and clear the terrace that you spawn on of all the dinosaur enemies. (There’s only one humanoid mob so if you just clear the entire first terrace you’ll be fine.) Once you’ve cleared the terrace, skin and loot all of the dino mobs. Once you’re done with that, head out of the instance, reset, and go again!

Going through this process at maximum skinning level and maxed stars for all your gathering, you’re looking at roughly 150 scales and 100 Blood-stained Bones. Once you leave the instance to reset it you can make the recipe “Shimmerscale Striker” which vendors for 56 gold a piece. Doing this shuffle on instance lockout, you should be able to do this dungeon run about 10 times per hour. The sources I’ve come across that cover this gold shuffle have done the math and you’re looking at roughly 9,000 gold per hour!

Transmogrification

Many of us enjoy collecting appearances for our characters so that we can be fashionistas while still have the best gear in the game! With the on-coming pre-patch, I’ve decided to highlight a really good Transmog run!

For this grind, you’re going to head to Thousand Needles. On the far east side there’s a cave called “Saltstone cave”, this is where you’ll be spending most of your time. This cave is basically a circle path, and since the ogres here have a very high respawn rate, by the time you’re finished with a lap, the entire cave will have respawned. The reason this farm is so good is because it has the largest loot pool for “Vanilla” WoW items, so doing this grind for hours, you won’t see a duplicate item! Not to mention the fact that there is a particular set that shares it’s name with the cave it is found in, that on the auction house will sell for nearly 100,000 gold per set!
