So, thanks for baring with me this last few weeks have been crazy. We went to Mankato, Minnesota. Talk about having a long time to travel. The trip took us five hours to get there and back. The good thing is we all like one another on the team and I tell you that really makes the difference. Sometimes, when teammates spend a lot of time together they can get kind of crabby. And, through the whole entire trip we’ve slept, ate, cried in the cold and went shopping! (Not something we usually do but…) Last year we had a girls trip and the travel was fine but we did not do well as competitors. This time we took 3rd overall as a team. Here is the recap from our head coach Jim Disrude:
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Forensics team took third-place out of twenty teams at the Vocal Viking, Oct. 27th-28th in Mankato, Minnesota. The team earned eight individual awards as part of the team’s highest ever finish at the Bethany Lutheran tournament. It was also the largest field in the history of the Vocal Viking tournament.
Seniors Beekah Madia and Le Racha Simon each won two awards. Madia took 3rd-place in Prose and 6th-place in Program of Oral Interp. Simon was the tournament runner-up in Dramatic Interp and also 5th-place in Poetry. Complete results are listed below.
Next up, the team travels to the Norton Tournament next weekend at Bradley University. Then the following weekend, the team will split efforts sending separate squads to UW-Madison and San Diego.
