So, What’s New?
Influencers are taking over our world one platform at a time.
The word “TikTok” is probably something that has a whole new meaning to you. It no longer is just a noise from a clock, but a platform that has changed many areas of life, even marketing.
Formerly known as “Musical.ly,” Tik Tok has soon become a game-changing platform. TikTok is a place for pranks, dances, challenges, and so much more.
And What does this have to do with Marketing?
It didn’t take long for brands to jump on the TikTok trend. Why? Because they knew that they could reach who they wanted. People like to use the word addicting when describing their use of TikTok. So if your target audience is spending an excessive amount on this app, why wouldn’t you get your brand on their too?
Brands Who Are Doing It Right
One brand that I wanted to highlight is Dairy Queen. Recently, they started the #DQDanceChallenge that went viral. For every dance posted, DQ will donate to sick children and their families. One short video had the power to change lives and bring DQ into a positive spotlight. Not only has it shown on TikTok, but it has even carried over to Instagram.
When brands make an effort to keep up with the trends, they create opportunities to reach new audiences and expand their market. What starts as a great idea can go viral. All it takes is one influencer to participate and it will take off.
I hope you enjoyed today’s topic of TikTok and using challenges to launch your ideas.
Stay tuned for what we’ll cover next week!

Hi Anna!
I can totally attest to describing TikTok as addicting. Ever since quarantine, I have spent too much time watching and sharing videos. It is an outlet for young generations to express themselves and to share unique, organic content. I really find it interesting how marketing has increasingly appeared on Tik Tok. Almost every time I open the app, there are adds to click through. Tik Tok has provided a platform for thousands of influencers, who are sponsored to advertise products or services. Like Dairy Queen, companies that create content that posiitively impacts different organizations advertise the best. Now I’m convinced to do the #DQDanceChallenge!

This is awesome that you found this information about Tik Tok and how much it has influenced trends in social media. I know for one thing that Instagram their version of Tik Tok within the app with Instagram Reels. It all follows a similar concept but it is still funny to see people out there interacting with media this way, other than the traditional ways of using it.
