With each new year of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) we see some changes and top teams making moves to be the best. This year is no different in the major changes we will see. Before this season of RLCS even began, there was a huge change to the format in which teams will compete.

Starting off with the Fall Split, each region will compete under the same format, in which previous years depended on the region you competed in, on what format would be used. The new format for each split includes 3 regional events and 1 major. The major will comprise the top 8 NA teams and the top 8 EU teams.

The new season also brings in the largest regional expansion in RLCS history with 3 brand new regions being introduced into the RLCS, those being; Asia-Pacific North (APAC-N), Asia-Pacific South (APAC-S) and Middle East & North Africa (MENA). All of which will be competing for a spot in the major for the Fall split that happens in December.

This season has already been off to a hot start in NA, as the first of 3 regional online events has taken place. The first regional saw a powerful team in FaZe Clan winning. With the NA favorites of NRG esports coming in second. Which lit a fire underneath the NRG team who just a few weeks later were able to come away with the win during the second regional event, and place themselves atop the overall season points standings.

Finally the most anticipated regional event of the season for NA happened over the weekend of November 10-12. Seeing a new team take the crown for the 3rd time this split. G2 esports was able to not lose a single match during the event and come away with the regional event title. While this was not something many expected, the final point totals and team placements for the NA split were just as many predicted with NRG coming out on top and FaZe Clan coming in second.

This sets up for a great major event happening in December with the top 8 NA teams and the top 8 EU teams coming together for the first LAN event in what seems like forever to crown the 2021 RLCS Fall Split Champion.
