Take Time to Smell the Flowers
Take Time to Smell the Flowers
This quote has given me a whole new perspective in the last year. Being a college student and graduating during a pandemic is probably one of the most anxiety-inducing experiences I have ever been through. I’ve learned that taking time to “smell the flowers” really helped me slow down and realize the best things in life can be the smallest and simplest things. Here are a few ways I stop to smell the flowers:
Literally smelling flowers:
I love flowers! Lately, as the weather has gotten nicer again I have been taking a lot of walks to get coffee or just to get some fresh air. When I walk I like to make sure I take the time to look at the world around me. The sky and the clouds can be so beautiful and the warmth of the sun shining on your face feels amazing. There is so much beauty in the world if you take the time to look around and realize it.
Appreciate the beauty of a nice routine:
When days seem like they blend together and life is going by a little too fast, I have found establishing a routine that I am excited to wake up and do helps make each day better. I have learned that my favorite meal of the day is breakfast, I wake up and put on a cute sweat set, and make a healthy breakfast of egg whites and strawberries. Then at night, I take my time to do a face mask and light candles as I wind down to go to sleep. Routines give me purpose when I am having a hard time finding it.
Learn to really love what you love:
By this, I mean that I have learned to take the time and dive into my passions. I don’t mean I am starting a business or changing my career based on some passions. It’s the little things! I really like fashion, so I have taken the time to consume more content on Pinterest or widen my array of clothes in my closet. Another example for me is music. I love music! I used to be a band nerd growing up, so I know a little more about music than the average person. When I listen to my favorite songs sometimes I like to be intentional and really take the time to listen to the words and the chord progressions of my favorite songs. Dig deep and find the real beauty in the passions you already have.

Hi Savannah, I really like this blog. One thing I love in life is the meaning of quotes and how they actually can have an impact on your life. This quote is so cute and fun and it is something that I really need to remember sometimes. Stop and smell the roses, to take a deep breathe and to remember the great, amazing things that this life has offered me. I too love routines, I think they really are a huge aspect of my life and something to make myself feel really great about myself. One part of your blog that really stuck out to me was “routines give me purpose when I am having a hard time finding it”. I agree with the part so much and I think it stuck out to me because this has been a struggle I have been having latley but routines have been huge for me lately.
Awesome job Savannah I really love this blog it will stick in my mind especially when I am trying to relax and remember what life has to offer!

Hi Savannah! Great blog again this week! I LOVE plants. I only have 6 in my apartment right now but they are pretty large so, especially for my cat, it’s like a jungle haha. I really love the color and life they add to such a simple space. As it’s getting warmer, I have also really enjoyed taking walks and being in nature. I feel like it’s such a pure and simple way to disconnect from social media and other distractions in life. I really liked all your advice for people that are anxious in the current state of things. Can’t wait for next week’s post!
