In the short story Village Phone a women named Ivanna lost her phone in New York City. With her storage still her possession but a new phone instead, she was able to see new pictures being taken from her old phone. These pictures were of a teenage girl named Sasha. Ivanna’s fiance emailed Sasha in hopes of getting the phone back but Sasha denied it. Because of this Ivanna’s fiance, Evan, started a a page to find Sasha and the stolen phone. That page went viral and in the end Sasha got arrested for the act and the phone was found. The moral of this story was the effect of actions on other people, privelge, and how fast online communcations can grow and reach many people at once. It was wrong of Sasha to steal but it was also wrong for Evan to go so serious as to help open a world of haters and lawenforcment onto a teenager that made a small mistake.
In short is is amazing to see what technology has become and the potential it holds in our future. But is is also scary to see what it can do to ourselves and everyone else around us. Technology can be used to communcate throughout the knowledge, information, and in some cases harm. It is uncertain whether or not in the end it will be our demise. But one thing is for sure, it is not going away and will only grow. It is important to recognize how much technology is envolved in everything around us and how much we depend on it.
