Mealybug: They’ll Suck the Life Out of Your Houseplants (Literally)

Mealybug

  • Size: 3-4 mm long, 2 mm wide
  • Shape: Oval
  • Color: White, appear fuzzy

Out of all the houseplant pests I will be talking about, mealybug is the one I hate the most. The only other pest I have had an experience with is scales, but that was only on on plant and it was easily managed. Mealybugs, however, don’t seem to want to leave me alone. They are very mobile pests and will go into the deepest crevices of a plant where it can’t be found. Mealybugs are very hard to get rid of if you don’t catch them right away. This is because of how fast they breed. One female can lay about 600 eggs that will hatch one week later.
