Coming Out Celebration 2015

October is LGBT* History Month, and to celebrate, UW-Whitewater will be hosting several events, sponsored by the PB Poorman PRIDE Resource Center.

On Tuesday, October 13th from 12-2pm at the UC North Mall we have our Coming Out Celebration. This is a time for students, faculty, and staff to share their stories of coming out as LGBTQ* and allies!

Also on Tuesday, October 13th at 7:30pm in Young Auditorium we have The Missing Generation. (Cost: Free!)

Sean Dorsey, celebrated as the nation’s first transgender modern dance choreographer, and his troupe will perform this new show about the impact of the loss of part of an entire generation of gay and transgender people to AIDS in the 1980s and 90s.

Please visit: Sean Dorsey Dance to get your free tickets to the show!

And on Wednesday, October 14th from 2:30-4pm in Young Auditorium we will have a (beginners) Dance 101 Workshop with a Q&A with Sean Dorsey. He will share his experiences as a choreographer- while providing LGBTQ* and ally students a space for expression, dance, and movement, in a supportive environment. In addition, he will also provide time for discussion and reflection. All interested students are incouraged to attend! For more details, feel free to email me or stop by the Pride Resource Center!

A very exciting and eventful week! Please stop by any and all the events you can, and encourage students and staff you know to attend!
