This was one of my favorite volunteer experiences by far. Lake Louisa State Park is so beautiful and extremely big. They offer horseback riding, kayaking, camping, etc. We spent the day picking caesar weeds, an invasive plant that takes over and kills other plants. By then end of the day, I was covered in burrs, head to toe. It was hard work, but extremely rewarding because I got to learn so much about Florida’s wildlife and the best ways to take care of it.
As we were picking weeds, we spotted an empty turtle shell, and even had the opportunity to hold some snakes. I even met some amazing people who love animals just as much as I do.
