Getting to Know: Downtown Lake Geneva
The beautiful town in which The Candle Mercantile is located is Lake Geneva. Lake Geneva is known for its beautiful lakes, beaches, adorable downtown, and great food. TCM is tucked in the downtown strip right across from Potbelly and directly behind Oakfire. Most of you may know Lake Geneva as a touristy town, and you would be right! There is so much to do in the town, let alone even just downtown. Whatever you are interested in, there is something for you!
Coffee Shops
There are a wide variety of different coffee shops right downtown. If you are looking to sit down and get some work done, catch up with friends, or simply get your caffeine fix, there are a couple of different places to try. Most obviously, there is a Starbucks. If you are a Starbucks fanatic, don’t worry, LG has you covered. Right across from TCM there is Inspired. Inspired is a local coffee shop that is an outlet for people with disabilities to enter the workforce. Ordering from here is supporting much more than just your caffeine fix! And finally, there is Avant. This coffee shop is super neat because not only can you purchase different beverages, but you can also rent bikes to ride around town! At this coffee shop you can rent a bike, or even bring your own in for a tune up.
Activities
While of course I highly recommend coming into TCM to keep you busy and to make memories while in Lake Geneva, there are also a lot of other neat activities to do while in town. If you are coming in the warmer months, hit up the beach! There are a variety of different beach fronts around town where you can catch some rays. Also, a relatively newer experience that has popped up in LG is an escape room. Lake Geneva Clue Room is a great way to work with your friends and family to hunt down clues and escape the room in 60 minutes. There is also Tristan Crest, the local magician. He has his own theater just outside of downtown, and puts on shows daily for your entertainment. And last but not least, you can explore the other shops! Lining the streets of downtown LG are a bunch of small businesses, that offer a wide variety of products for sale. Go in an explore all of these to see what you might find.
Food
Finally, there are a lot of great restaurant options scattered throughout the downtown area. No matter what you are in the mood for, or how fancy you are dressed, there is something there for you. First, there is Oakfire. Oakfire is a great stone fire pizza place located right om the lake. Right next to that is Popeyes. And no, this is not the fast-food chicken place. Popeyes has a wide variety on their menu, so if you have a group that cannot decide, this would be a great option! A little further down the lake is Lake City Social. Lake City Social recently replaced Spreckers and is attached to The Cove. A little way off the main downtown strip is Sabai Sabai. Here they have incredible Thai food and sushi.

When my family and I went to Lake Geneva over spring break, we stopped at the coffee shop, Inspired, and we loved it. Not only were all the workers amazing, but the coffee was too!

I love Lake Geneva! My favorite thing to do is walk the trail along the lake and look at all of the beautiful houses on the path. I think I’ll have to try Oakfire the next time I’m there!

I just recently went to Lake Geneva for the first time this past year. It is a very cute town and I will defintely be going there more this summer. I will have to check out Candle Mercantile when I am there.
