Packers’ Za’Darius Smith Charged with Speeding and Marijuana Possession
Racine, Wis. – Za’Darius Smith is one of the newest members on the Packers roster this season. He was acquired via free agency from the Ravens during this past off-season and has made major impacts on the field and now off the field.
Za’Darius has fortunately not faced any criminal charges in the incident. Smith had been pulled over during a traffic stop that involved him speeding. When the cop approached the vehicle, he smelled marijuana in the vehicle.
Smith was among three total individuals in the car and when the three were asked to step out, the smell had not followed the men but stayed within the vehicle. The three also did not show any signs of being high. However, there were some weed cigars and vape cartridges in the trunk of the vehicle.
Za’Darius has been written two citations in the incident. One for speeding and the other for marijuana paraphernalia possession. It is unclear at this point what the NFL will do to punish Smith in the next few weeks.
