Did you know that the Willis Tower is the 2nd tallest building in the United States and the 22nd tallest in the entire world?! The tower stands to be 1,450 feet tall and holds 108 stories. The Willis tower is located on 233 S Wacker Dr, Chicago IL 60606. The Willis Tower was formerly named the Sears Tower from when they built it in 1973 until 2009. The reason for the name change was because Sears Roebuck sold it to the Willis Group Holdings.
If you are planning on going to the Willis Tower, the best activity to sign up for is their skydeck. In the Tower, there is a glass ledge where you are able to step into that is 1,353 feet high, but the best view you can get of Chicago. Unfortunately with COVID-19, the skydeck is temporarily closed but they do offer a Skydeck Virtual Tour. The video offers highlights of what is inside the tower and the view of Chicago.
Looking for dinner and a view? They also have Skydeck Chicago’s Restaurant in the Clouds. They do Breakfast in the Sky, Lunch in the Sky, and Pie in the Sky. If you aren’t interested in those options, they also have downstairs restaurants including Brown Bag Seafood, Do-Rite Donuts and Chicken, Shake Shack, Market Creations, Tortazo, and Sweetgreen and also coming soon will be Sushi-san and Urbanspace.
They also hold events at the Willis Tower but with COVID-19, they have nothing available right now. They have fitness programs at the tower that include yoga, pilates, and total strength training. They include an antenna lighting page with a list of dates, what color the antenna will be and why!

I’ve always wanted to go there and go out on the glass! I almost did once, but I was with someone who was afraid of heights, so we didn’t. Thanks for the info!

Wow didn’t realize that the Willis Tower has this many things to do in this building. I visited Chicago a lot since I’m from the Chicago suburbs, I’ll definitely have to check it out next time I go. I’ve been wanting to do the Skydeck for years it looks real fun and the view you see is probably even better.

The Willis Tower is super cool, I’ve never been in it but I’ve seen plenty of posts on social media and I always think it looks cool, especially the sky deck. I think eating at the restaurant sounds awesome too, it’d be a great experience having supper with that view!

The Willis Tower is a building anyone can recognize when they’re in Chicago. I think this was a great blog as you were able to dive into depth about the tower and it’s history. It’s the first building I always see when I head to Chi town.

I have been to Chicago a few times but I have never been to The Willis Tower. I have always wanted to go on the skydeck and hope to so that some day.
