The Shedd Aquarium is the place to “discover the wonder of aquatic animal world”. This is a great place to go to with family members, friends, or a romantic date night.
The animals that are available for everyone to see are Sharks, Sea Otters, Turtles, Penguins, Seahorses and Sea Dragons, Saltwater Fish, Corals, Beluga Whale, Sea Stars, Stingray, Sea Lion, Pacific White-sided Dolphins, Jellyfish, Octopus, Amphibians, Reptiles, Freshwater Fish, Crustaceans, and Birds.
The exhibits that are available for everyone are Underwater Beauty, Abbott Oceanarium, Wild Reef, Caribbean Reef, Polar Play Zone, Amazon Rising, Islands and Lakes, Oceans, Rivers, Great Lakes, Gardens, Terraces, and Stingray Touch.
The Shedd Aquarium is extremely caring for our ocean animals. When visiting their website, they mention how they have an on-site animal hospital as well as an Animal Response Team. They truly are more than just a place to see sea animals, they paired up with scientists from Shedd’s Daniel P. Haerther Center for Conservation and research to learn more in depth about each and every animal that they work with.
Due to our crazy year with COVID-19, the aquarium had to find ways to let people experience and keep learning about our sea animals but in a different way. For those who do not want to go in person, they have an online option to experience and learn! They have options of virtual animal encounters, virtual camps to attend, activities and videos, and virtual reality.

I used to love going to the aquarium section of the Louisville Zoo back in my hometown. I really miss it and look forward to when I have the opportunity again!

I have heard so much about the Shedd Aquarium, but I have yet to go visit. I am hoping I can go when restrictions loosen up.

The Shedd Aquarium is one of my favorite places in Chicago (granted I’ve only been there a couple times). I didn’t realize that they had online options because of COVID, that’s really cool and I’m happy to hear that people can still experience Shedd Aquarium without going in person, hopefully this is a feature that they keep long term!

I love that they found a way to keep everyone safe, but still offer the ability to come visit all the sea animals.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually been to an aquarium! It’s cool that there is a virtual option because of covid. I definitely will have to check it out :))
