The beauty world is everchanging since new trends and products are constantly being created. Pop culture phenomena and social media outlets have a major impact on what the new and next best thing is in the makeup industry. This encourages users to share their creations with others and what products they are loving at the moment to create trends. With my experience in the makeup industry, products that are showcased on social media often don’t last in stores long because they sell out almost immediately after they become trendy, and with supply chain shortages right now it is hard to tell when these products will come back in stock. With that being said, pop culture and social media are strong indicators of what is popular in the beauty industry since it shows in the sales of these products.
The first thing that is hot right now in the makeup world is the HBO original show, Euphoria, which has taken the social media world by storm since the makeup looks are intricate, expressive, and unique. People have even started to make videos with the Euphoria soundtrack playing in the background while they display their artistic makeup creation in the clip. These Euphoria inspired makeup looks often include a focus on the eye with elements of glitter, rhinestones, and bright pops of color since that is the type of makeup the characters display to help convey their emotions to the viewers. The show is normalizing that people can use makeup to express themselves in any way they want, which is why these bright and bold features are trendy at the moment.
A ‘no makeup, makeup look’ is also quite trendy right now, and we have the pandemic to thank for that. Ever since the start of Covid-19, people have been focusing more on skincare and less on makeup, which as a result leads to a surge in natural makeup products. During this time, masks were prevalent in the world, so half of the face was hidden from the public eye. This also lead to people focusing more on the eye area since this is all the public could see, which is still a big trend. This also goes hand-in-hand with the Euphoria trend above because their makeup looks are often heavy on the eyes and require minimal effort for face makeup such as foundation. As a result of this, full coverage foundation is not as highly sought after as it once was, making it an item of the past for many beauty lovers since lighter alternatives such as tinted moisturizers took its spotlight.
I’m actually really glad you talked about Euphoria and its affect on the makeup industry since coming out. I LOVE the makeup looks in Euphoria and honestly am so excited that it’s becoming the trendy thing. I think it’s so expressive and eye catching which is such a big part of what makes makeup an art. I also think it’s really interesting how the pandemic has changed makeup trends. On one hand you have Euphoria’s trendy eye popping makeup while on the other you find ways to enhance your natural beauty without adding too much glitter and glam. Both have their strengths and I just think it’s really interesting how both of those are at the top of the trend list for makeup looks.
I have just recently gotten into the Euphoria series and the makeup looks are one of my favorite parts of the show. I think that they are helping to normalize creative and bold looks. I grew up doing competitive cheer and that played a big role in my love for makeup. I think it is such an expressive art form and it is different for everyone. Great job!
I absolutely love Euphoria and so happy you talked about the looks in the show! I was actually Maddy for Halloween this year and tried out one of her makeup looks in the show and I love her style so much. I love doing makeup in general, but I like how Euphoria created all these new and futuristic makeup looks with all the colors, sparkles, and gems. I’m personally a big fan of the hardcore makeup looks in the show. Some people may think it’s too much or too crazy, but I think of makeup like it’s art; and I think Euphoria portrays great art in their makeup looks on the female actresses.
Euphoria is one of my favorite shows right now. I also love the art and makeup that is showed, and what is has created when it comes to trends within makeup and clothing. I also am loving the whole makeup, no makeup look right now as well!
Euphoria is such a trending topic right now, this is the perfect time to post about it. It has become a huge TikTok trend to recreate these amazing makeup looks. I wish I was skilled enough to do these. They are so unique and you are definitely able to distinguish a Euphoria look from any other. The amount of glitter and the pops of color are what makes it so unique.
