HR Student Organization: SHRM

What is SHRM?

UWW SHRM is a student chapter affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management. This national organization brings together HR professionals from all areas and disciplines. It helps professionals make connections to other HR professionals, provides resources to help keep your knowledge of the field up-to-date, and hosts a state conference every year that serves as a  great opportunity to learn and network.

The student chapter of SHRM hosts meetings every week. These meetings can be speaker meetings, informational, company tours, community service events, or socials. All are designed with the intention of increasing your knowledge of the field, connecting with HR professionals in the area, or building relationships with fellow students in the major.

Why You Should Join SHRM

Involvement in the organization results in professional and personal development that professors, employers, and graduate schools notice. Meetings and events are also great ways to build relationships with fellow HR students that can help you throughout your college career and beyond.

Membership in the organization can also result in a leadership opportunity that will make your resume stand out from others in your job search. The executive board of the chapter is comprised of student members, meaning that there are positions  you can apply for that will show your ambition and help develop your leadership skills. These positions include President, Vice President, Director of Administration, Director of Finance, Director of Communications and Director of Community Relations.

When Does SHRM Meet?

SHRM meetings are held every Tuesday at 5:15 pm in Hyland Hall.
