Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
With Thanksgiving this week, it is only appropriate to talk about the Peanuts’ tv holiday special A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Released on November 20th, 1973, the special has aired every year for the Thanksgiving holiday.
We watch as Snoopy and Charlie Brown try to create a last-minute Thanksgiving meal for their friends Peppermint Patty, Lucy, and Franklin because Charlie Brown was going to have Thanksgiving with his grandmother, but Peppermint Patty insisted on inviting herself and her friends over right before he needed to leave.
This tv special has always been a classic to watch with family during the holidays. And even though Apple bought the rights for all Peanuts’ specials for Apple TV+, PBS is still able to air these beloved holiday specials.

My mom always jokes around that we have to watch this every year for Thanksgiving and then we never actually end up watching it.

Lauren,
A true classic! I think I’ve watched this show almost every year. It can be a little cheesy, but it gets you into the Thanksgiving spirit!

Hi Lauren!
I remember watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving every year when I was younger. Honestly, I’m sad we don’t watch it still! My family tends to stick to Christmas movies, but we definitely make it a point to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas! I love classic holiday movies. One of my family favorites is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation; gotta love the holiday specials!
