The Best Career Advice I’ve Received Thus Far
This is not the original blog I had planned for today, but this morning I met with one of my favorite professors where he gave me the best career advice I have ever received! I know that my website is turning into a career blog, but when he showed me this resource, my jaw dropped! It would feel wrong to me to sit on this knowledge and not share it.
Let me preface this by talking about my current situation. I have applied for about 40 post-grad jobs and internships with around 15-17 interviews. He told me not to be discouraged by this. That’s almost a fifty percent batting average, right? Getting constant rejection letters can be disheartening but with every rejection letter, you’re one step closer to your full-time dream job.
Now, into the good part! The school has a resource called Reference Solutions. Keep in mind I was only introduced to this today – so you should definitely go check it out for yourself too! To find it, go to the school’s library page, click on articles and databases, got to R, then find Reference Solutions. From what my professor told me, there are two main functions of reference solutions. First, you can look up jobs. Secondly, you can look up companies.
Here, I’ll include some screenshots to help guide you and explain how Reference Solutions work.
I hope this information helped you as much as it helped me! 🙂 Post-grad can be scary, trust me I know. I feel like any tip helps!

Hi Savannah! This is a great tip and I will definitely refer to it and tell my friends about it in the future. I know that I am graduating in a couple years now and job security is one of the scariest things coming out of college. I just want to have a job I like coming out of college, and not a lot of people recieve that. Researching companies and job listings like this tip you gave us definitely helps a lot of people! Also, I love that you provided the screenshots in your blog because it gives people more of an idea on how to use this resource. Good luck on your future job searching!

Hi Savannah!
I love this so much. I have been struggling with finding internships and I have already started looking for jobs for next semester. I definitely feel the pain of trying to find a job and always getting rejected can be discouraging. But, I know this happens to most people. Thank you so much for this resource I am definitely going to check it out!
Have a great week (:
