Hi, due to personal circumstances I’ll be about an hour late to in-person mentoring hours today (3/7/22). I apologize for any inconvenience.

PWP Mentoring in Spring 2022
Hello everyone! My name’s Cassidy Ochowski, and I’m the PWP peer mentor for the Spring semester of 2022. However, this is the final semester I’ll be serving in this position—I’ll be graduating this May! That being said, I’ll still stand ready to help you with your PWP coursework and electives right up until your finals.
There won’t be too many changes from last semester to this one; while my hours are different, there’s still a mix of in-person Laurentide hours and remote online hours. And just like last semester, you’ll be able to meet with me online via either Webex Meetings or Discord.
If this is your first time visiting the PWP peer mentor website, make sure to read the front page. It’s just been updated for the Spring semester, and it contains all the information you’ll need to get started: hours, locations, instructions for both online platforms, and what to expect if hours ever need to be moved or cancelled.
Lastly, if none of the times for this semester fit your schedule, don’t give up! If you reach out to me, I’ll do everything I can to figure out an alternate meeting time. I’m used to working off hours, and I can usually do Fridays or weekends, too—so don’t forget that this by-appointment option exists!
Well, that’s it. This’ll probably be my last (permanent) blog post, so let me just say it’s been a pleasure to serve as the PWP peer mentor these past few years. I’m sure my replacement will do a superb job, and I wish all of you the best of luck with whatever endeavors you’ll be pursuing going forward.

Fall 2021: A fresh start
Hi there! I’m Cassie Ochowski, the one and only peer mentor for this semester. I hope your academic year has gotten off to a great start, but if you ever get to the point where you need help in any of your PWP classes, I’ve got your back.
Those of you who’ve been here awhile may remember that we’ve spent these past few semesters holding peer mentor meetings online via Webex Meetings. Those of you who’ve been here for even longer may remember that we used to meet in-person in the third floor Laurentide lounge. This semester, I’m pleased to offer you… both!
I’ll be working 13 hours a week for the rest of this semester, and those are divided about 50/50 between times I’ll be available in Laurentide hall and times I’ll be available remotely for online meetings.
Unlike past semesters, I’m not going to try and cram all the information into this blog post; instead, I’ve updated and expanded this site’s homepage. If you’re wondering how to go about meeting with me, I encourage you to take a look! I emphasized beginner-friendliness in this article, so hopefully the explanations are helpful!
If you have any questions at all about what PWP peer mentoring will look like this semester, what I do, or who I am, please feel free to email me at OchowskiAM19@uww.edu.
It’s Spring!
Hiya! I’m Cassie, your one and only PWP peer mentor for the Spring 2021 semester. Sorry for the late post this time around; there’s been a lot going on lately.
For one, Alyssa graduated at the end of the Fall 2020 semester! She had a long and distinguished career as a PWP peer mentor, and I’ll definitely miss working with her. Since she’s so darn irreplaceable, we’re literally not going to replace her; I’ll be working alone this semester.
Due to current government health and safety guidelines, I’m going to continue with the “virtual office hours” system via Webex Meetings for at least one more semester. I do have new hours posted on the homepage, but this’ll otherwise work exactly as it has in the past.
If this is your first time participating in the PWP peer mentoring service, or if you could use a refresher, here’s a step-by-step guide detailing how to set up a meeting with me:
1. E-mail me to request a meeting. My e-mail is OchowskiAM19@uww.edu. If you know in advance when you’d like to come, I always appreciate a forewarning. However, you’re also welcome to just email me during any shift(s) in which you’d like to meet.
2. Look for an e-mail reply with a link to join the meeting. If you email me during one of my shifts and I’m not already meeting with someone, I’ll reply right away. Otherwise, you’ll hear from me a bit later.
3. When it’s meeting time, click on the green “Join Meeting” button. It’ll take you to the Webex site, where you can choose to open the Webex application. If you don’t yet have the Webex application on your device, you may be prompted to install it. If you’re not prompted to install it, you can do so here. However, if you don’t want to install it, you can use Webex directly through your browser. There should be a link at the bottom of page saying something like: “Having trouble opening the desktop app? Join from your browser.”
4. If I’m not yet in the meeting when you arrive, please wait for me to join it. I’ll be with you as soon as I can!
That’s all, folks! If you have any questions about this or literally anything PWP, feel free to reach out to me via my university email (listed above). Until then, I hope you have a great spring and finish out the academic year strong!

Revenge of the Peer Mentors: Fall 2020
Hello there! We’re Alyssa and Cassie, your PWP peer mentors for this semester. Starting in just a few short days (on 09/14/20, to be exact), we’ll be offering hours to meet with you all! Check the homepage of the blog for the basics, like the classes we can help you with and the times we’re available to meet.
Since we’re still waste-deep in the whole social distancing ordeal, we won’t be offering any in-person hours this semester. Instead, we join the majority of the campus in offering “virtual office hours” via Webex Meetings. This will work exactly like it did after the shift to distance learning last semester.
For anyone who’s joined us since then, or could just use a refresher, here’s a step-by-step guide detailing how to set up a meeting with us:
1. E-mail one of us to request a meeting. Cassie’s e-mail is OchowskiAM19@uww.edu; Alyssa’s e-mail is SabelAJ99@uww.edu.
2. Look for an e-mail with a link to join the meeting. If you email us during our “office hours” and we’re not already meeting with someone, the meeting will likely be scheduled for just a few minutes from when you first contact us. Otherwise, it may be a bit later.
3. Shortly before the meeting is scheduled to begin, click on the green “Join Meeting” button. You will be taken to the Webex site. At the site, you can choose to open up a Webex application. If you don’t yet have the Webex application on your device, you may be prompted to install it. If you are not prompted to install it, you can do so here. However, if you don’t want to install it, you can use Webex directly through your browser: see bottom of page, “Having trouble opening the desktop app? Join from your browser.”
4. If we’re not yet in the meeting when you arrive, please wait for us to join it. We’ll be with you as soon as we can!
And there you have it! If you have any questions about literally anything PWP, feel free to reach out to either of us via our university emails (listed above) or our Twitter (linked in the site’s navbar). Until then, happy PWP’ing! <3
-Alyssa & Cassie
For anyone who read this entire post looking for details about a possible act of vengeance implied in the title, I can unfortunately confirm that our “revenge” is just providing helpful grammar advice and mentoring y’all. Like, literally the same thing we do every semester. The only difference this time around is that I gave our blog post a leading title in a desperate ploy to get you to read it.
So, if you made it this far, I commend you wholeheartedly. Your dedication to the PWP program is truly a model worth aspiring to. In fact, you’re my favorite PWP student, just don’t tell any of the other ones….
Okay, that’s it, that’s the end. I think I’m gonna go reread the “How to make blog posts” chapter of my web writing textbook now.
