Week 12 Summary- Packers vs 49ers

The Packers and the 49ers teams both came into this game with the best records in the NFC and looked to take control of the 1-seed in the NFC and receive a 1st round bye in the playoffs. This was the Packers chance to prove that they were an elite team in the NFL this year and gain control of the NFC. But the game didn’t go as the Packers had first hoped, actually the complete opposite of what they wanted to happen. The Packers received the opening kickoff and it didn’t start how they expected and quarterback Aaron Rodgers ended up fumbling the ball and the 49ers picked it up at the Packers 5-yard line, giving them great starting field position and they would get the ball at the start of the second half. On their first play of offense they ran the ball in and scored, making the score 7-0 49ers very early. The Packers really struggled to get any offense going whatsoever and their following drive they went 3 and out and punted the ball to the 49ers, once again giving them good field position. The Packers however, did get a defensive stop on the 49ers following drive. The 49ers would get the ball back from the Packers and drive down the field and end the drive with a field goal, making the score 10-0 49ers. Up until about 5 minutes left in the 1st half it was mostly defense but the 49ers amped up their offense with a field goal making the score 13-0 and following that immediately a fast touchdown drive making the score 20-0. They then got another fast defensive stop and drove to kick another field goal, making the halftime score 23-0 49ers, with them receiving the second half kickoff.

The Packers hopes of a second half comeback were slim to none with the 49ers opening a huge lead. After a defensive stop, the Packers finally got on the board with a touchdown reception from Packers receiver Davante Adams. The Packers then went for 2 in an attempt to make the score closer, which was successful making the score 23-8 49ers. The Niners however quickly answered back with a long touchdown pass to tight end George Kittle, making the score 30-8 Niners. The Packers failed to score the remainder of the game and the 49ers scored again making the score 37-8 and that is what the final would end up. The Packers drop to a record of 8-3 and the 49ers improve to 10-1 with a commanding lead in the NFC. This loss drops the Packers down to a tie with the Vikings for the lead in the NFC North, making the rest of the games this season very important.
