Week 5 Game Recap: Packers vs. Cowboys

Going into week 5 the Green Bay Packers were optimistic that they would be able to sneak a win out in Dallas against a Cowboys team that had the same record as them at 3-1. This optimism came up big against the Cowboys as they were able to walk away with a 34-24 win and move their record to 4-1 heading into a crucial Monday night football divisional game against the Detroit Lions. This is an important game as the Lions are in second place in the NFC North, the same division as the Packers.

On the way to the 34-24 victory over the Cowboys, the Packers enjoyed a career game from running back Aaron Jones in which he scored an astounding 4 touchdowns. The Cowboys started with the ball and drove down the field pretty quickly until the Packers corner back Jaire Alexander intercepted a pass tipped off of the hands of Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper. The packers quickly drove down the field and scored on an 18-yard touchdown run by Packers running back Aaron Jones making the score 7-0. The Cowboys drove down the field again and were stopped at the 45-yard line and punted. The Packers started their next drive at 11-yard line and had another solid drive down the field and scored on another touchdown rush by Aaron Jones making the score Packers 14 and Cowboys 0. The Cowboys had another decent drive down the field that was halted by another interception by the Packers defense. There was then no scoring until the packers kicked a field goal to make the score 17-0. The Cowboys missed a 50-yard field goal with less than a minute left in the 1st half. The Packers took a 17 point lead into halftime, but the Cowboys wouldn’t go away in the second half. The Packers scored again at the beginning of the second half on Aaron Jones 3rd touchdown run of the game and made the score 24-0. With 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter the Packers were up 31-3 on Aaron Jones 4th touchdown of game, but the Cowboys came roaring back and made the Packers and their fans a little worried and the final score ended up being 34-24. The Packers upcoming game against the Detroit Lions on Monday night football is their most important game thus far this season as they look to improve to 5-1.
