Facebook relies on its technology optimism in order to masquerade its awareness to threats of real world violence. Because Facebook has created a giant social network it becomes an inconvenience to yourself and to your friends if you are not active on the platform; as the VOX video pointed out. The motto “move fast and break things” has not aged well. With Facebook’s focus on growth of its users it has neglected to take on the appropriate amount of staff to facilitate this growth. Facebook likes being the distributor of news through the newsfeed algorithm, for the revenue, but lacks the excitement about being the moderator.
