Ensure your Canvas course(s) meet(s) accessibility standards through practice. The workshop will begin with an introduction to the basics of layout, alt text, descriptive hyperlinks, color contrast, lists, and headings. We will also discuss how the Canvas Accessibility Checker can help you develop and check for digital accessibility in your course. The workshop will conclude with an optional open lab, allowing participants to work on their courses with CATLST experts.
Session Outcomes
After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify key accessibility features in Canvas, including layout, headings, lists, color contrast, alt text, and descriptive hyperlinks, in alignment with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
- Organize course content using headings, lists, and layout tools so materials are easier to navigate.
- Integrate accessibility considerations into the regular course development workflow to proactively address potential barriers.
- Utilize the Canvas Accessibility Checker effectively to identify and resolve common accessibility issues within course content.
Participants are encouraged to bring in their laptops or tablets.
