We are getting an error in our code (Cannot locate "flash" and "Boot"). We have revised the code and reconnected all wires but are still not getting an output for the sensor. Does anyone have any other troubleshooting ideas that may be helpful?

Hi,

We are the team from North Crawford High School. We have had the same message. But the message itself will still run the code if all else is working.

Here is the message we get and yet our program still works: avrdude: jtagmkII_initialize(): Cannot locate "flash" and "boot" memories in description.

The Arduino Forum at this link confirms this: https://forum.arduino.cc/t/nano-every-avrdude-jtagmkii_initialize/607462/3. And attached is a picture of the message if you are unable to locate this specific post just by searching.

Have you ever gotten any of your code working? We had trouble at first getting any of our code to work. And it turned out we had a charging cable and not a cable that transmits data. We finally got a cable that charges and transmits data and then it worked for us. You can see what our cable looks like if you go to our team site and look at our posted videos.

Let us know if you want to chat about this more.

@lizbransky it looks like we too have a charger cable and not one that transmits data. Thank you for that insight we are getting a different cable and trying it tomorrow because we believe that is our problem right now.

Yes, you can ignore the "avrdude: jtagmkII_initialize(): Cannot locate "flash" and "boot" memories in description" message. Thanks, Liz!

regerob, let us know if you still can't get a reading from the moisture sensor
