About Me
Alexxis| uh-lEk-sis
Hello Dear Reader,
My name is Alexxis and I am a graduating senior at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater majoring in Communication – Electronic Media and minoring in Studio Art – Graphic Design.
As a creative, the goal is often to run the race of freelance creation as your own boss… at least that’s my goal.
My dream in life is to be completely independent of a formal employer and work as a freelance brand designer and content creator.
I grew up in a family built of self-starting, homemade entrepreneurs. No one really knew what it meant, but some how, in their own haphazard methods, managed to create comfortable and sustainable businesses via their own passions.
My father is a carpenter and my mother is a massage therapist, so in fashion with tech trades they headed right into the land of “freelance” and self-employment without any direction and learned as they went. I, on the other hand, am in a creative field. Networking, portfolio building, risk-taking, and crowdsourcing are all part of the creativepreneur journey to self-succes… none of which are things my parents have a clue how to navigate through my perspective.
So what’s the point?
As a young, female, creative, solopreneur it is often hard to find resources that aren’t self-help resources or mentors that are fearful of mentees stealing clientele. I want to create a resource built off of my journey as a young and driven, female creativepreneur. My hope is that my experiences can be used as pre-emptive learning experiences for my fellow young ladies or gentlemen trying to understand this crazy world of entrepreneurship.
So let’s get to work!
