I found the new record on New Artists Spotlight via iTunes. The album is titled “Human Ceremony.”

The title track “Human Ceremony” proves to be the slower tracks on the album with a male and female vocals throughout the track. This is a great introduction to the album because it gets the listener used to the Sunflower Bean’s new sound. The second track on the album titled “Come On’ is much faster paced than the first track which proves to be the norm throughout the entire album. There are loud drums during the climax of the song which continues through the next few songs. The third song titled: “2013” proves to be edgy as well as soon as it begins. The two female and male vocals take command early in the song, complementing the pace of the song well. This song is for sure a standout from the rest of the songs since it sounds just like a standard alternative song. “2013” takes a fast turn when it unexpectedly picks up until it abruptly ends. “Easier Said’ proves to be one of my favorites of the album because it slows down just a bit and lets the listener hear the music. The beat moves steadily throughout the song and that is what I like about the most. The vocals on top also complement the song nicely. “This Kind of Feeling” picks up where “2013” left off with the female vocals taking command yet again. The song proves to be just as edgy as the first two with a beat that takes early command. This song also has an abrupt ending. “I Was Home” is more of the same with a driving beat throughout and fast paced overall pace. This album proves to be one of my favorites with the vocals loud and clear throughout. I love how the overall sound of the song because it sounds just like the previous tracks.

The one thing I enjoy the most about the album is the vocals that sit on top of the music no matter how fast the songs go. I also enjoy hearing the instruments throughout the song along with the vocals. The reaming songs are quite interesting and prove why this album is under the category of alternative. Personally, I love albums with different sounds because I can take a different perspective on what I hear. I never want an album to sound the same because that can hinder my enjoyment and everyone else’s who ends up listening to the record. I was happy to find the band Sunflower Bean also released an EP last year. -Signe

Sunflower Bean’s new record proves to be an alternative sensation the first time I heard it.
