Not only can you drift away in love with Lady Lamb and the Beekeeper’s new album, After, but you can drift away to the soft sweeping music.  The new album shows Lady Lamb in a new light, the album is stronger than her previous and she has come out of her shell.

“I really wanted to make a conscious effort in this record to be more open; to make something that was more about myself and my life and my family and my fears and loves,” she said recently in an interview with NPR.

This album is the perfect album to unwind your week with Midterms coming up, or a perfect poolside jam for Spring Break!

Here is “Billions of Eyes” and “Spat out Spit

May 6th she will be playing at the Schubas with Rathborne in Chicago!

Album of the Week 2/27/15

February 27, 2015

11021075_882158088493928_2592989197578367453_nWhat better way to end the week than to play some Torche vs robots??  Well this is the promo game for the new album “Restarter” that has recently been released by Torche.

This album is the fourth studio that the band has released, and it leaves no room for the listener to misinterpret the bands heavy message.  The album begins with “Annihilation Affair”  which is a strong anthem that is played in unison.  The album continues to be as heavy, loud, metal, and harsh as they started nearly a decade ago.  Their tracks are attractive and have catchy rhythms that draw even nonmetal listeners in.  Their use of unison roars and lyrics draw the listener in more than a showy guitar solo. The band clearly all worked together to create what many are considering their darkest song yet, “Undone.”  Even only being 1:41 in duration, the song packs the same amount of punch that can be heard in any other loud rock piece, but at half the time.

Their metal can be heard at the station after Midnight during our Metal at Midnight.

March 15th the band will be playing at the Cactus Club in Milwaukee, so maybe a Milwaukee trip is in store for you!!

To Get You Through the Cold Week

February 25, 2015

On Your Own Love Again by Jessica Pratt

d1fa694a

On Your Own Love Again is a warm album that should be sold with an Irish hot chocolate and a window to stare out of to watch the just fallen snow lay delicately on everything. Not an album that is going to gel with everyone on the first listen, or depending on the situation, at all. This is an album that works best when it’s being paid attention to. Every word she sings is full of emotion, not in the big cinematic kind of way, but in the relatable sense, making it infinity more real. A great album to listen to all the way through. -Carlos
