{"id":865,"date":"2015-11-29T16:05:43","date_gmt":"2015-11-29T22:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/?p=865"},"modified":"2015-11-11T15:18:29","modified_gmt":"2015-11-11T21:18:29","slug":"respect-your-body-and-ditch-the-scale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/2015\/11\/29\/respect-your-body-and-ditch-the-scale\/","title":{"rendered":"Respect Your Body and Ditch the Scale."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2015\/10\/respect-your-body.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-866 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2015\/10\/respect-your-body-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"respect your body\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2015\/10\/respect-your-body-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2015\/10\/respect-your-body.jpg 236w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>I\u2019ve always felt you shouldn\u2019t determine your success from the numbers on the scale, but how you feel your body has developed.\u00a0 After all muscle weighs more the fat.\u00a0 The way I measure my body progress is measurements and photos, and I strongly encourage for you to try this road.\u00a0 Seeing the number on the scale can be self-doubting and a lie.\u00a0 The scale has brought me down so many times when I should have been proud of myself for simply putting the work in.\u00a0 You could love your body and your improvements, but once you see the number lying right in front of you all satisfaction is tossed right out of the window and it should not be this way.\u00a0 So I am here to tell you is to ditch the scale, ignore the numbers and love your body instead.\u00a0 Think fat loss not weight loss.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to measure your results?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES.\u00a0 It is important to keep track of you fitness journey.\u00a0 You want to see your highs, your lows, improvements and meet your never ending goal.\u00a0 Keeping a journal or taking pictures is great because you can physically see what you like or do not like.\u00a0 Photos will show you more progress than the numbers on the scale ever will.\u00a0 You are your biggest motivator, and what better motivation then a picture of yourself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you shouldn\u2019t read the numbers?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you start working out, your body creates muscle. (No brainer, right?)\u00a0 As you start to gain muscle your weight may increase, or even stay the same, even though you are burning fat.\u00a0 Muscle taking up less volume then fat, your overall size will decrease, that being something the scale will not include when showing you those numbers.\u00a0 The scale will never be able to paint you an accurate picture for you true results.\u00a0 You would be amazed on how many people build a very unhealthy relationship around their weight, because of the numbers they see on the scale and that person was me.\u00a0 Because I have ignored those numbers, I\u2019ve learned to love my body and built a healthy relationship with my body and my workouts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celebrate your success.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Yes, it is so exciting to see physical change in your fitness journey, but don\u2019t forget to celebrate other success that our happening in your journey.\u00a0 Becoming healthy and fit is not just about your physical appearance, but how you feel on the inside.\u00a0 Developing more energy, self-love and confidence is just as important at the end of it all.\u00a0 For me personally, I now wake up stronger physically, mentally, and happier then I have ever been.\u00a0 To me that is the biggest success of them all.\u00a0 Get the scale out of sight, out of mind, learn to love yourself and not the numbers that you think define you.\u00a0 Know you are more than that.\u00a0 Love yourself, not your numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that your happiness should not depend on numbers that a scaled reads back to you.\u00a0 Results are important, but being physically and mentally stronger is just as important.\u00a0 Love your journey, every step of it.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you learn. I hope you laugh. I hope you never stop.
