{"id":1755,"date":"2019-09-09T11:52:44","date_gmt":"2019-09-09T16:52:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/?p=1755"},"modified":"2019-09-25T10:45:19","modified_gmt":"2019-09-25T15:45:19","slug":"benefits-of-yoga-vs-gym-workouts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/2019\/09\/09\/benefits-of-yoga-vs-gym-workouts\/","title":{"rendered":"Benefits of Yoga vs. Gym Workouts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Going to the gym has always been the \u201cstandard\u201d place to get your workout in.&nbsp; Besides recently new at home workout remedies along with programmed bikes\/treadmills, working out and lifting weights at a workout facility was the place to be and the norm for \u201cgetting fit.\u201d However, yoga workouts have skyrocketed in popularity within the last few years.&nbsp; More and more athletes, celebrities and everyday people are appreciating the true benefits, mentally and physically, about yoga.&nbsp; In today\u2019s blog, I\u2019ll be listing the differences and benefits between a yoga workout and a gym workout in hopes it will inspire you to try something new and learn some valuable information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>YOGA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2019\/09\/yoga.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1756\" width=\"323\" height=\"245\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  Benefits:\n  <\/td><td>\n  Explanation:\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>1) Yoga benefits the <br>mind, body, and <br>soul   <\/td><td>   Yoga not only helps you tone your muscles but also focuses on <br>bringing awareness to your whole body and inject positive <br>energy<br>into yourself.\u00a0A gym workout really only focuses on improving <br>your body\u2019s physical condition.   <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>   2) Yoga will make <br>you lean   <\/td><td>   Yoga stretches and  strengthens your muscles <br>simultaneously which causes you to appear more  lean.\u00a0 When lifting weights, that causes your muscles to bulk up and look <br>larger.   <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>   3) Yoga is more <br>efficient   <\/td><td>Yoga relies on your whole entire body for strengthening. <br>Gym workouts use weights and equipment (with only a few exceptions). In yoga, you use your entire body weight as\u201cweights.\u201d Unlike at the gym, your muscles are isolated by being worked individually which can take more time to build.   <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>   4) Yoga is calming\/reduces                     stress\/improves              concentration   <\/td><td>   Yoga focuses on  connecting your mind, body and spirit into <br>one workout.(And if you haven\u2019t tried it, it\u2019s harder than you <br>think.)\u00a0 <br>You have to focus on   performing everything with intention<br> while following and paying attention to   your breathing.\u00a0 <br>Feeling each movement   and muscles of your body being <br>worked.   <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<p>GYM:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2019\/09\/gym.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1757\" width=\"281\" height=\"214\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  Benefits:\n  <\/td><td>\n  Explanation:\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  1) Wide variety of\n  workouts you can do\n  <\/td><td>\n  While at the gym, you\n  have a large selection of equipment and space to use to create your own\n  workout.&nbsp; With yoga, it normally\n  follows a standard format.\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>   2) Builds <br>muscle\/makes   <br>you bulk   <\/td><td>\n  At the gym, you normally\n  use weights or equipment to break down your muscles so they can build back up\n  bigger and stronger.
