I know you’re all stoked, but today I am going to try something a little different. I am still going to slap some knowledge on you, but I am also going to share some personal anecdotes along with my advice. This summer I made the choice to get healthy, it’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but never did. It hasn’t been easy to stay on track, but it pays dividends in the long run. I feel immensely better, my self-confidence has increased a ton, and it has become a passion of mine. I am going to share a few tips with you guys to help you along your fitness journey if you’re thinking about getting fit.

*DISCLAIMER* If you are already fit this is not for you, this is for people that are starting their fitness journey or struggling on their fitness journey.

TIP #1

Set good obtainable goals, setting a goal for yourself can be extremely advantageous. Having something to work towards everyday can be a great motivator. These goals should not be lofty and should be attainable, if the goal set is too hard it can do the exact opposite and make you want to give up. One way to stay motivated is writing your goals down and putting them somewhere you will always see them. One of my goals this summer was to be able to bench my body weight, I wrote this down on a piece of paper and put it on my nightstand so I see it every morning.

Tip #2

It’s a process, be ready for a slow grind. The classic quote “Rome wasn’t built in a day” is a perfect mindset to have when starting your fitness journey. Fitness isn’t fast and this can be an extremely discouraging aspect of fitness. Plateaus happen to everyone so stay with it. For example my bench plateaued in the month of June, I didn’t see any progress for the entire month which was hard. Now that July is here I began increase in strength again, stick with it and it will always pay dividends.

Stay with your fitness journey and I promise that you’ll feel better not only physically, but mentally as well. In an effort to throw in one humble brag I have dropped 20 pounds already since the last semester ended and it’s awesome! I am by no means fit and still a bit of a chubby guy, but I am ready to keep grinding and look forward to sharing my progress with you all!

What’s up y’all your favorite Fitness Supervisor is BACK.
