{"id":1091,"date":"2016-10-24T03:38:55","date_gmt":"2016-10-24T08:38:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/?p=1091"},"modified":"2016-10-24T15:38:36","modified_gmt":"2016-10-24T20:38:36","slug":"healthy-foods-on-a-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/2016\/10\/24\/healthy-foods-on-a-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy Foods on A Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eating healthy can get quite pricey, especially those all organic foods.\u00a0 But don\u2019t make the mistake that eati<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-1092 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2016\/10\/a.jpg\" alt=\"a\" width=\"354\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2016\/10\/a.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2016\/10\/a-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/warhawkfitness\/files\/2016\/10\/a-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 354px) 100vw, 354px\" \/>ng out is cheaper than buying healthy food regularly.\u00a0 You simply have to be smart about what you buy and how you are buying it.\u00a0 I am here to give you some simple tips that I use.\u00a0 Buy in bulk, and buy the healthy food that is cheaper year around.<\/p>\n<p>I do a lot of my grocery shopping at Festival and Aldi\u2019s.\u00a0 And yes this means driving to Janesville since Whitewater thinks the town can live with just a Walmart.\u00a0 By heading over to Janesville I can get inexpensive and weeks\u2019 worth of food for less.\u00a0 Let\u2019s dig in to my secrets.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Vegetables.\u00a0<\/strong>My favorite!\u00a0 Raw vegetables such as carrots, spinach, and broccoli are fairly inexpensive.\u00a0 You can do so many different things with the vegetables then just eat them raw.\u00a0 Always look for vegetables that are in season.\u00a0 In season vegetables seem to always have a good deal on them like corn on the cob right now.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Fruit.\u00a0<\/strong>My favorite, bananas! They are usually inexpensive year around and can be good by themselves or mixed in with a variety of meals.\u00a0 Organic fruit can be relatively cheap, but if you\u2019re really ballin&#8217; on a budget hit up the frozen fruit section for smoothies and other meal preparations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Nuts.\u00a0<\/strong>The one food that makes me the maddest. I always think to myself how can almonds really be that expensive.\u00a0 A good place to find nuts at a good cost at Aldi\u2019s.\u00a0 You can get a large amount of nuts for a price that won\u2019t burn a hole in your pocket.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Brown rice and oats.\u00a0<\/strong>Both products you can buy in huge quantities for cheap that will last you weeks. You can make many different creations with both of these delicious and healthy ingredients.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Beans.\u00a0<\/strong>The food that can basically go in every meal! They can be a meal itself or even be a side.\u00a0 Oh, and how could I forget they are delicious and cheap.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Poultry.\u00a0<\/strong>Meat can be hard. Although it is not the cheapest product in the books, I like to buy in bulk.\u00a0 I make all of the product up and split it up throughout the week.\u00a0 Either eating chicken on his own as the main dish or making fun and healthy dishes with it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Know that there is no such thing as \u201ceating perfect.\u201d\u00a0 Food is a fuel and not a past time.\u00a0 Feed your body with vigorous foods.\u00a0 There are so many reasons why I will spend a little extra time and effort to eat healthy, nutritious, energizing foods.\u00a0 You can never put a price on your health.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you learn. I hope you laugh. I hope you never stop.
