Hello everyone, Hannah Anderson here! I am a senior at UW-Whitewater who has a natural passion for everything health, wellness and fitness. My true love for health and fitness began 2.5 years ago when I was hired as a group fitness instructor here on campus. My fascination with helping others achieve better lives through fitness opened the never- ending doors of wellness and health for me. This fascination eventually lead to my change in major to Corporate Health Communications where I am in my true happy place promoting what I care about most. When I’m not in class or obsessing over my cats, you can find me teaching loads of group fitness classes at the Williams center. I am thrilled to be a new member of Warhawk Fitness’s Public Relations team to share my knowledge and passion for health with the community.

Going back to the basics, I grew up in a small town called Verona, located right outside the heart of Madison, WI. Surrounded by a sport fanatic dad, I will always hold a special place in my heart for the badgers! Prior to college, I spent 15 years of my life as a competitive dancer practicing everything from jazz, hip-hop and pointe. As my high school career came to end, I found my self burned out from endless hours spent on the stage and was ready to try something new to stay active. Being the oldest child of my family, with a 15-year-old sister, forced me to grow outside my comfort zone as I entered college. Like many students, I found myself struggling with high levels of stress and anxiety associated with the college transition. This is when I turned to fitness to help alleviate my stress and began utilizing the campuses gym and group fitness classes. Immediately, I was amazed with the results of my lowered levels of anxiety through physical activity and simply taking care of my body. Learning to eat healthy foods that nourish my body and daily physical activity is what changed my mental state and overall view of college. Because of this transformation in my own body, I am a firm believer in the mind, body and spirit health mantra. I truly believe that all aspects of your body are interconnected and affected by one another to create a whole healthy individual.

Perusing your personal health is detrimental as you only get one body to live in for the rest of your life. To me, being a healthy individual isn’t about restrictions, eating solely healthy foods or spending endless hours in the gym, it is about finding a balance that works for you. Everyone’s version of a health is individualized and I believe everyone has the right to their own health and wellness path. Remember that health isn’t just a destination, it is a never-ending journey.
