{"id":461,"date":"2010-11-04T14:11:13","date_gmt":"2010-11-04T19:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/uptimes\/?p=461"},"modified":"2010-11-04T14:11:13","modified_gmt":"2010-11-04T19:11:13","slug":"technology-open-house-draws-praise-for-interactive-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/uptimes\/technology-open-house-draws-praise-for-interactive-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Technology Open House Draws Praise for Interactive Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>iCIT&#8217;s <\/strong>annual Technology Open House\u00a0was a great opportunity to showcase\u00a0 the campus technology culture.\u00a0 It also offers a\u00a0way for faculty and staff to meet the people and companies behind campus technology.<\/p>\n<p>Held on Aug. 26 during Faculty Orientation Week, this year&#8217;s TOH featured the theme \u201cMake IT Possible,\u201d focusing on how technology enables more efficient work processes. Consistent with the theme,\u00a0the Open House allowed hands-on demos of several new technologies.<\/p>\n<p>iCIT staff members demonstrated a variety of services, including:\u00a0 Class Climate; D2L; Clickers; Smartboards; MeetingPlace\/WebEx; Ironport Spam Management; Online Syllabi; Events Calendar; TSC Helpdesk; SecondLife; HP Self-Service System, and GoogleDocs.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Several of iCIT\u2019s technology partners, namely Dell, Apple, AT&amp;T, US Cellular, McAfee and Cisco, \u00a0also attended the event and supplied\u00a0 great prizes for attendees.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 65 faculty and staff members attended the three-hour, open house event.\u00a0 Attendees were given a USB flash drive preloaded with information about the featured technology services.\u00a0 Notably, the feedback from attendees was that they most enjoyed the one-on-one interaction with iCIT team members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cEveryone did an amazing job of explaining and promoting our services.\u00a0 On behalf of iCIT management team, thank you to everyone for their time and input in making this year\u2019s Technology Open House a successful event,\u201d said Elena Pokot, CIO.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Special thanks go to those staff members who worked at the event:\u00a0 Melissa Adams, Shelly Allen, Aaron Axelsen, Nick Ciesinski, Stephanie Feirn, Susan Degen, Sean Diamond, Jacob Feder, George Jura, Derek Milz, Chris O&#8217;Connor, Lisa Rowland, Robin Schutte, Karen Skibba, Daniel Weiss, Carolyn Wilson, Mark Wozny and Julie Zaukas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>iCIT&#8217;s annual Technology Open House\u00a0was a great opportunity to showcase\u00a0 the campus technology culture.\u00a0 It also offers a\u00a0way for faculty and staff to meet the people and companies behind campus technology.
