{"id":437,"date":"2010-09-13T12:39:55","date_gmt":"2010-09-13T17:39:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/uptimes\/?p=437"},"modified":"2010-09-13T12:39:55","modified_gmt":"2010-09-13T17:39:55","slug":"search-to-fill-two-noc-positions-is-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/uptimes\/search-to-fill-two-noc-positions-is-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"Search to fill two NOC positions is underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two new\u00a0positions in the Network Operations Center (NOC) have\u00a0been posted and the search to fill the positions\u00a0is underway.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0new positions\u00a0represent\u00a0iCIT&#8217;s success in moving forward\u00a0on\u00a0two key\u00a0strategic initiatives &#8211; iDM and Server Virtualization &#8211;\u00a0and\u00a0will\u00a0allow us to be prepared\u00a0to take them to the next level. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Identity Management Engineer.\u00a0 <\/strong>This new position will focus on integrating our campus identity management system with UW System\u2019s HRS project, integrating electronic workflow into existing processes and providing automated provisioning processes to users. These activities will forward iCIT\u2019s strategic vision of enabling self-help and automated delivery of services to end users. The growing\u00a0importance and increased demands of the initiative requires full-time effort.\u00a0 Nick Ciesinski has done an\u00a0outstanding job performing this role on an interim basis in addition to his many other duties and his oversight is\u00a0appreciated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Virtualization \/ Storage \/ Platform Engineer.\u00a0 <\/strong>This new position will focus on managing the tremendous growth in storage and virtualized server infrastructure as iCIT expands use of these technologies, and will help manage the large numbers of servers currently supported by existing system administrators. This position will further the strategic goal of virtualizing infrastructure when possible, with resulting cost and energy savings for the institution.
