However, this means that a college student has the least amount expected of them by
their families when it comes to prepping or planning Thanksgiving. So, this is your guide to
looking like an absolute all-star to your family this Thanksgiving.

Planning:
Odds are, you won’t be too involved in the planning process if you’ve been away at
school for the last 2 months. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t make life easier for those who are
planning. A simple “What can I bring to Thanksgiving?” text can go a long way. If you’re a broke
college kid, don’t worry because the response is going to go one of two ways. Either they tell
you “Don’t worry about, we’re just happy you’re coming.” Or they ask you to bring something
small like a drink. Either way, you’re going to look like a rockstar for just asking if your family
needs help planning.

Prep:
This is probably the easiest place to help and look good at Thanksgiving. Simple things like
offering to get someone a drink or help mash some potatoes are going to show your Aunt Linda
that maybe you are a decent kid after all. If you can somehow manage to help prep/cook the
turkey without messing it up, your family will literally think you’re some sort of king. But just
like planning, just offering to help is going to go a very long way.

Babysit:
Thanksgiving is a time for family to talk and catch up with each other. This can be tough with
kids running around while their parents are trying to talk to their cousin who
they haven’t seen since Uncle Gene got married. Take the load off of them and entertain the
kids while the parents hangout and watch football. The appreciation you’ll receive for this will
be endless.

Clean Up:
This is probably the easiest thing to do to be the Thanksgiving all-star you’ve always dreamed of
being. Just offer to help do dishes or clean up after the kids and you’re guaranteed to thrill the entire
family, especially when cousin Dylan is passed out in a food coma.

If you do any number of these things on Thanksgiving, you’ll definitely look like the best child
anyone could’ve asked for. Your parents are going to be proud and your extended family is going to
wish they had raised a kid as thoughtful as you.

Now, as a college student, you’re probably not going to be planning a huge Thanksgiving meal.
