Summer.

The time where you get a break from all the studying for classes and taking exams (unless you have a summer class, then good luck to you!) It’s also the time of year where you finally have time to sit down, relax, and enjoy your favorite shows that you’ve neglected all year long. Which then brings us to the question that every college student has asked themselves for ages… are you Team Hulu or Team Netflix?

As an experienced user of both, it can be hard to choose as they both have their redeeming qualities. Hulu has the most current shows, you can watch the Bachelor literally the day after it premieres on TV. It’s basically like having a DVR but for the low price of $7.99 per month. It even has pretty current movies to watch. But there is one enormous downfall to Hulu, and that is the constant interrupting commercials. Personally, they don’t bother me too much since it gives you time to take a quick bathroom/snack break in the middle of the show. Also, if you want to throw down a few more dollars, you can buy the commercial free plan.

And then there’s the OG binge watching service: Netflix

Netflix has hundreds of movie and TV show options for the same price as Hulu. It also has TV shows with every season available to watch instantly without commercials. Hulu doesn’t always have multiple season of shows available, only the most current one. Netflix also allows you to create individual accounts, that way your mom won’t have to see how many episodes into Shameless you are. The plan prices increase if you want to have multiple people watching at a time on the same account or you want HD. Hulu doesn’t have this option and says officially that only one person can watch at a time. But I’ve tried and found that you can have more than one person watching most of the time.

So which really is the best streaming service??

It depends on your type of viewing. If you want to binge watch an entire show and just chill, Netflix is right for you. But if you want to stay up to date with the latest shows, Hulu will do the trick. If you’re staying in Whitewater all summer long without cable, I’d suggest both.

It’s that time of year again.
