Forget just putting marshmallows in your drink, go all out with new flavors and toppings!

One of my favorite Starbucks drinks is the salted caramel mocha. While you could spend $5 on one there, you can also make your own salted caramel hot chocolate at home! For this one, start with any hot chocolate that you already like. The key to getting that Starbucks salted caramel taste is a combo of the chocolate and toffee nut or English toffee syrup! Torani sells tons of flavored syrups, including English toffee, or you can splurge and buy syrups directly from Starbucks. Add syrup to taste, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle sea salt on top and you’ve a got a salted caramel hot chocolate!

Hazelnut fans should try out Nutella hot chocolate. This recipe is super easy and doesn’t need a million ingredients. In fact, there are just two! Take one cup of milk (any kind works) and two tablespoons of Nutella. Heat the milk in a small saucepan (but don’t boil it!) and whisk in the Nutella until it’s fully dissolved. Top it with whipped cream and enjoy!

Finally, upgrade your whipped cream and make it at home. It’s super easy, and the possibilities for flavors are endless. Take one cup of heavy whipping cream and add one tablespoon of any flavored syrup or sugar. Whisk the heavy cream until it has the consistency you want. In just a few minutes, you’ll have real whipped cream, way better than Cool Whip.

Now that you’ve made the best hot chocolate you’ve ever had, curl up on the couch and start your winter Netflix binge.

Nothing complements the wintry weather better than hot chocolate, but what if you want to mix it up?
