{"id":1700,"date":"2014-11-05T13:59:35","date_gmt":"2014-11-05T19:59:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/ucinfo\/?p=1700"},"modified":"2024-06-07T12:18:13","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T17:18:13","slug":"motivation-the-struggle-is-real","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/ucinfo\/2014\/11\/05\/motivation-the-struggle-is-real\/","title":{"rendered":"Motivation: The Struggle is Real"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Being a senior and ready to graduate, I\u2019ve realized that senioritis is real.\u00a0 I have been struggling this entire semester trying to be productive but just not having the energy.\u00a0 It might have something to do with Gilmore Girls on Netflix or that I\u2019m not ready to graduate and leave my friends and the life I\u2019ve lived for the past 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve noticed though, some things that help me to keep on track and not straying too far off track.\u00a0 So here goes: my top five ways to keep on truckin\u2019 it until graduation! Upon graduation I will be continuing on to graduate school, so I will need to keep this up!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1701 alignleft\" alt=\"productivity\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/ucinfo\/files\/2014\/11\/6728580615_98c4f1c23b_q.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.Start the week out right<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sundays are my day to prepare for the week ahead.\u00a0 I make my meal plans, go grocery shopping, and even pick out my outfits so I don\u2019t have to worry about getting dressed throughout the week.\u00a0 I reflect on what lies ahead on my calendar and start making lists (number two on this list) of what needs to get done throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1702 alignleft\" alt=\"To-do list\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/ucinfo\/files\/2014\/11\/9593217572_a2bc170950_q.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>2.Make a list<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am a huge fan of lists! Everything gets put on a list in my handy dandy notebook.\u00a0 This includes what needs to get done at some point during the week, the day, and the month.\u00a0 I keep a grocery list going and any other notes that seem relevant in this infamous notebook.\u00a0 The lists help me keep on track and motivated to get through the day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1703 alignleft\" alt=\"plan\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/ucinfo\/files\/2014\/11\/3166085824_d93fe8c5c5_q.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><strong>3.Do what you planned to do<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I know this may sound a little ridiculous but actually commit to what you planned on getting done.\u00a0 It sounds easy but it can be a challenge.\u00a0 Setting up my week starts out strong when I am motivated and optimistic on Sunday but when that alarm clock goes off at 6:30am and I\u2019m tired and cozy in my bed, it\u2019s hard to get up and actually be productive.\u00a0 On the days when I do what I am planned I feel so much more productive and accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1704 alignleft\" alt=\"reflect\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/ucinfo\/files\/2014\/11\/6979591098_ddffcfca4d_q.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><strong>4.Reflect on the big picture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another big thing that has helped me stay motivated is the end goal.\u00a0 I have to reflect on why I am in college in the first place and what I want to get out of coming to Whitewater.\u00a0 Putting my life into perspective helps me to evaluate my future and become motivated again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1705 alignleft\" alt=\"movie marathon\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/ucinfo\/files\/2014\/11\/4489098152_31e790d1c0_q.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.Allow yourself a break<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This may sound counterintuitive but allowing yourself that Netflix binge day or the girls night out\/in can really help to distress and become reenergized to stay on top of things.\u00a0 This is exactly what I did before writing this post, my friends and I vegged out on the couch an ENTIRE day watching New Girl and eating Reese\u2019s peanut butter cups.\u00a0 This helped me become more motivated to get my lengthy weekend list completed today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I hope this list was helpful, while it may be obvious sometimes it helps to see it written down and spelled out nice and neatly.\u00a0 The semester is almost over;
