I wish somebody would have told me that my last semester at UW-Whitewater would be the fastest semester of my life. With seven weeks left here, I feel like I have so much more to accomplish in such little time. In the midst of it all, I have been reflecting on what I will miss most about Whitewater. I transferred here in the Fall of 2014, and in those two short years, I have made Whitewater my second home.

  • Close proximity to everything: All of my friends are literally in a 5-mile radius from me at all times. This is fantastic. The thought of them not being around all of the time gives me “the feels.” Also, the proximity of Wal-Mart to my apartment has been phenomenal. I love getting in the car and driving five minutes and ending up at Wal-Mart. At home, it takes about twenty minutes to get to any grocery store. I have been so spoiled here, and I don’t know what to do when I go back home. Finally, it has been great going to school, working and living in the same town. During my first two years in college, I worked, went to school and lived in three different towns.
  • Food: One of my favorite places in Whitewater is Cozumel. I’d say I am there at least once a week with my friends. From the burrito grande to the fiesta fajitas, I am never left unimpressed. Whenever my family or friends come to visit me, we always end up at Cozumel. Also, I am just a short walk to any of the downtown restaurants. Sunday mornings won’t be the same without Jessica’s and Friday nights will likely be lifeless without pizza from Gus’.
  • The people: I have met so many new people here at Whitewater. Many of these people have become friends, mentors and connections for the future. Students should be proud to be attending a school that loves to focus on the future and making sure everything we are doing now will help us get to where we want to be.

I am very thankful to have things to miss once I leave Whitewater, but I know that I will be able to create new connections wherever I end up afterwards.
