Hello Packers fans!
This week was promising! We are not quite where we need to be yet, but it was nice to see that even without Rodgers we can still be competitive against a talented team like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Heres this week’s recap.
The Steelers started the game with the ball and scored a quick touchdown, but missed the extra point to start things off at 6-0 Pittsburgh. Luckily the Packers struck back quickly with their own touchdown in their first drive and a good extra point to give Green Bay the lead at 7-6. In the Steelers’ following drive, Ben Rothlisberger threw an interception to Damarius Randall to give the Packers the ball back. The Packers took advantage of this opportunity (FINALLY!!!!) and scored another TD to make it 14-6 Packers.
In quarter two the Steelers kicked it in gear and made a comeback with a touchdown and a successful 2-point conversion to tie things up at 14 a piece. After that, there was a few punts and the first half came to a close with a score of 14-14.
Green Bay started off the first half right with another touchdown to take the lead again at 21-14. Roethlisberger responded with another interception, this time to Blake Martinez. Green Bay attempted to turn this into points, but unfortunately Mason Crosby missed a 57 yard field goal try. On their next drive, the Steelers tied things up again with another touchdown. 21-21.
In the 4th quarter, the Steelers gave the Packers yet another opportunity with a fumble recovered by Martinez. The Packers did not convert this into points, and gave the Steelers the ball again. Pittsburgh marched down the field for a touchdown to take the lead at 28-21. Luckily, the Packers were able to respond on their next drive to tie things up at 28-28 taking us to the two minute warning.
Here’s where I break your hearts. The 4th quarter ended like this. Pittsburgh punt, Green Bay punt, Pittsburgh ball with 17 seconds left…
1st down at GB 47 with 13 seconds left…
1st down at GB 33 with 9 seconds left…
Timeout Steelers
Timeout Steelers again with 4 seconds left…
2nd and 12 Steelers, Steelers try for a 53 yard field goal…
It’s good. Clock 0:00. Steelers win 31-28.
So, the Packers lost another one. The post season is getting more and more difficult to see in our future. But on the bright side, at least we didn’t get shutout this week right? Next week its back to Lambeau where we will face off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Maybe next week will be our week? We can only hope.
Go Pack Go!
